On September 9, the ball hit Kim Do Young’s face while doing a bunt. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Kim Do Young attempted to bunt on the first pitch. Unfortunately, the ball hit him in the face, and he was substituted due to severe pain. Kim Do Yeong went to the official team hospital, got a CT scan, and was diagnosed with a nasal bone fracture. This season, Kim Do Yeong was showing perfect performance with 40 home runs and 99 RBIs. Due to his superior performance, the Kia Tigers are competing against highly ranked teams.

He was supposed to join the national baseball team for the 2026 Asian Games. Due to the injury, he will not be able to join the team. However, he shows strong determination to join the national baseball team. The Asian Games start on September 22 and end on September 27. At the 3rd base, there are two players, Moon Bo Kyung and Roh Si Hwan. Therefore, the absence of Kim Do-yeong would be fatal to their team strength.

On September 9, he had surgery and will be discharged from the hospital on September 11. The person in charge of the Kia Tigers said that they will decide the return date of Kim Do Yeong after watching his recovery. Both the Kia Tigers and the National baseball team face unexpected variables, and it seems important to know when Kim Do Yeong will be able to return to the field.
