North Korea newly declared that the relationship with South Korea is hostile by displaying the message “South Korea is the number one hostile country” at the “Class Education Center,” a space for instilling hostility toward South Korea.
The Central Class Education Center was established in 2016 to promote ideological education of residents in Pyongyang. It is filled with lots of exhibits aimed at criticizing South Korea and fostering hostility.
The message was captured on January 19th, when the participants in the 80th-anniversary commemoration event of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League visited the Central Class Education Center in Pyongyang, displaying banners, photos, and painted messages against South Korea, according to the KCNA. North Korea has criticized South Korea by displaying the banner, aiming to upend North Korea and “end the regime.”
According to a parliamentary report in September last year, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has criticized the former president, Rhee Syng-man, for promulgating a constitution in July 1948 that included the clause stating that “The territory of the Republic of Korea shall consist of the Korean Peninsula and the adjacent islands,” as codifying what he called “the most hostile true color by nature.” He also emphasized that by announcing in January 2024, the strengthening of ideological education to firmly regard the Republic of Korea as the number one hostile country and a consistent enemy.
