On December 24, Suwon Samsung Bluewings appointed Lee Jeong-hyo as head coach, who was previously in charge of Gwangju FC. Lee led a successful tenure at Gwangju, guiding the club to promotion to the first division in 2022 and reaching the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE).
Lee Jeong-hyo was appointed with the goal of leading Suwon Samsung Bluewings back to the first division. Since their relegation in 2023, Suwon have failed to secure promotion. The club believes Lee is the right choice, as he has already proven his ability to lead a team to promotion. Suwon Samsung Bluewings have struggled with an aging roster and inconsistent performances. Known for his principled and straightforward leadership style, Lee is expected to guide the team toward a better position.
Along with the appointment of Lee Jeong-hyo, Suwon Samsung Bluewings signed defender Hong Jeong-ho. Hong is known for his strength in build-up play and his ability to maintain defensive stability. Lee believes that a well-balanced defense is essential for building a stronger team. With his extensive experience in K League 1, Hong is also expected to play a mentoring role for younger players. In addition to Hong Jeong-ho, Suwon Samsung Bluewings have signed contracts with seven new players.
