Korean Air announced that it will enter an emergency management system starting in April as global oil prices continue to rise due to the Middle East conflict. The airline said the sharp increase in fuel costs is putting significant pressure on its financial plans for 2026.

According to company officials, aviation fuel prices have increased far beyond earlier expectations, nearly doubling compared to initial forecasts. Because fuel expenses make up a large portion of airline operating costs, the company plans to reduce spending and improve operational efficiency to manage the situation.

Korean Air also stated that each department of the company would be involved in developing and implementing cost-saving measures, including enhanced budget controls and changes to business operating plans; as a result, passengers may see increases in fuel surcharges on airline tickets due to the higher cost of fuel.

Industry experts believe this is a great example of how international conflict can impact people and industries around the world, regardless of distance from the combat zone. While the conflict is centered in the Middle East, the effects are being felt on a global scale due to the energy markets and their effects on the costs related to transportation.

The airline emphasized that it will continue monitoring global oil prices while trying to maintain stable services for customers. The case highlights how closely connected today’s global economy is, where political tensions in one region can quickly influence businesses and daily life in another.
