As awareness of mental health in the workplace grows, organizations are increasingly turning to systematic tools to better understand and address job-related stress. The Occupational Health Stress Scale (OHSS) has emerged as one such method, offering a comprehensive framework for diagnosing stress levels among employees aged 20 to 60. Unlike traditional assessments, OHSS evaluates not only the presence of stressors but also personal coping resources, both positive and negative, along with the outcomes of stress.

Research analyzing nearly 200,000 workers suggests that up to 80 percent of extreme choices are linked to job stress, with men facing double the risk compared to women. Such findings underline the importance of early identification and prevention. The OHSS is structured around five key domains and 25 detailed factors, examining causes of stress, coping capacities, and effects ranging from motivation and engagement to burnout, anxiety, or even physical health issues.

For organizations, the tool offers valuable insights into workforce well-being, enabling more effective strategies for human resource management and organizational culture improvement. Case studies show companies combining OHSS results with follow-up programs such as therapy sessions to alleviate stress and enhance recovery.

By connecting diagnosis with preventive care, OHSS highlights the link between employee resilience and organizational productivity, stressing that managing workplace stress is no longer optional but essential for sustainable performance.
